Top TEN things to do

Looking for something to do? Here are the top ten things to do in Kaniva:

  • Silo Art Trail: Visit the GrainCorp Silo Art near the Band Park on Progress St and snap a selfie. The best time to capture this masterpiece is before 11 am or after late afternoon. Or if you're staying late, capture our colour changing windmill on night mode!

  • Sheep Art Trail: Take a walk in our long paddock with our 900 meter Sheep Art Trail, connecting the Silo Art to the Big Windmill and the Wetlands and Fauna Park. With over forty sheep, themed murals and games, it's an artistic journey through our beautiful town. Maps are available on signage at both ends of the main street.

  • Kaniva Wetlands & Fauna Park: Enjoy some nature play at the Wetlands and Fauna Park, offering a bird aviary, wildlife park, flying fox, exercise equipment, walking tracks, and more. Don't miss the seasonal fruit orchard and the educational walking track. Enjoy a BBQ at the wetlands, surrounded by native bird and frog life.

  • Kaniva Puppet Shop: Experience the magic of puppetry at Kaniva Puppet Shop. Discover a historical marionette collection, and let the children perform an impromptu puppet play. The shop also boasts a Christmas room and a Polar Express train set.

  • Kaniva Swimming Pool: Cool off at the Kaniva Swimming Pool, open daily from mid-November to late March. The water is solar-heated, reaching a comfortable 27 degrees Celsius. Enjoy spacious grounds with seating and BBQ facilities for a relaxing day in the sun.

  • Kaniva Library: Check out their school holiday programs, borrow books, use computers, or browse their DVD collection. Open; Tues 3pm - 6pm, Thurs 9.30am - 1pm, Fri 3pm - 6pm. Baker St, Kaniva.

  • Explore our Heritage: Select from three locations; Uncover local history at the Kaniva Historical Museum, the border dispute at the Serviceton Historical Station or discover the Overland story at the Overland Museum. See more.

  • Walking Tours & Games: Download the Actionbound app and embark on a smartphone walking tour or interactive game. Choose from themes such as history, art, nature, or interactive kids' sheep art games. More info
