yANIPY NATURE RESERVE

Yanipy Nature Reserve (4WD only) was primarily set up for outdoor education for school groups, however, it is open to the public and provides a bush camping spot located only a few kms from town. This site gives a good indication of the Little Desert area for those on limited time. Subject to rainfall, a small dam, just north-east of the hut provides a peaceful spot for bird-watching, as does the Gum Flat Swamp. Bird life includes Yellow and Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Parrots, Cockatoos, Honeyeaters, Pardalotes, Raptors, Thornbills, Martins, Owls, Whistlers, Wrens and Heath-wrens.

Camping:
This simple bush site has campfires, tables and seating, shelter hut and drop toilet, but please remember to take all rubbish with you as these areas are not serviced. 4WD only. Sand can be very loose and site is best accessed after rain.
The site is situated along the Kaniva-Edenhope Rd, it is quite hidden and easy to go past, so slow down as you pass the carrot farm. The road into the camp site is 4WD only, from here, you can also continue on to Broughton's Waterhole and take in the Little Desert McDonalds highway (also 4WD only).
