Kaniva Men's Shed focuses mainly on the social side of things for the benefit of men’s mental health so if you want to work you can, but if you just want a coffee and chat that’s fine too! Supported by Link Neighbourhood House and West Wimmera Shire Council, the Men's Shed covers its running costs through fundraising efforts. These include the sale of donated furniture and kindling, priced at $7 for a 5kg bag.
Our Projects Kaniva Men's Shed has contributed to numerous local projects:

Our History The journey began in 2010 when David Boughton, a minister of the Kaniva Salvation Army ran a men's shed program with a handful of locals, but once he left, the future was not secure. With locals Mal Coutts, Charlie Ferrier, and Butch Witmitz, helping to lead the way, and Geoff Witmitz from Horsham providing invaluable support, a small group of men went for a bus trip to have a look at Men's Shed programs operating in Minyip, Warracknabeal and Nhill. The old menswear shop was for sale and was kindly purchased by the Rotary Club which was later donated to the West Wimmera Shire Council for the purpose of the Men's Shed. This, with support also coming from a generous donation from Mrs Pluckrose and grant funding enabled the whole project. The Men's Shed finally opened in 2013 with just 28 members, and despite a few men passing on, it has now grown to over 40 members.
