Lions Club

Kaniva Lions Club
Since 1966, the Kaniva Lions Club has been proudly serving our community through friendship, volunteerism and practical projects that make a real difference. As part of the worldwide Lions movement, they join more than 1.4 million Lions across over 200 countries who are dedicated to helping their local communities. Whether it's improving local facilities, supporting community organisations or assisting travellers on the highway, Kaniva Lions are passionate about making Kaniva an even better place to live.

What We Do
Throughout the year, Kaniva Lions organise and support a wide range of community projects and fundraising activities, including:
  • Wetlands and Fauna Park maintenance
  • Driver Reviver stops during Easter, King's Birthday and AFL Grand Final weekends
  • Australia Day Community Breakfast
  • Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal
  • Lions Christmas Cakes, Christmas Puddings and Lions Mints
  • Cemetery Care
  • Debutante Ball (held every second year)
  • Youth of the Year
  • Kaniva Car & Bike Show

Equipment Hire
The Kaniva Lions Club also hires equipment to the community, with proceeds helping fund local projects.
Available for hire:
  • BBQ Trailer
  • Mobile Cool Room
  • Tables, Chairs and Linen

Giving Back to Our Community
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Lion is knowing that funds raised locally are invested back into the Kaniva community. Over the years, Lions have proudly supported organisations including:
  • Kaniva Cancer Council Unit
  • Kaniva Hospital
  • Kaniva Men's Shed
  • Kaniva Community HUB
  • Kaniva P-12 College
  • and many other local groups and community initiatives.
Every fundraiser, every event and every volunteer hour helps strengthen our community.

We'd Love More Helping Hands
Like many volunteer organisations, Kaniva Lions currently delivers all of these activities with a relatively small group of active members. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, as well as the many community volunteers who generously lend a hand throughout the year. Many of our major events simply couldn't happen without this support. While volunteers are always welcome, at least one Lions member must be present at each event to meet our insurance obligations. If you've ever thought about getting involved in your community, now is a great time to become a Lion.

Why Become a Lion?
Being a Lion is about more than volunteering—it's about belonging.
As a member you'll enjoy:
  • Making a positive difference in your community.
  • Meeting new people and forming lasting friendships.
  • Working alongside like-minded volunteers.
  • Supporting worthwhile projects that benefit local people.
  • Having fun while giving back.
Whether you can help regularly or just from time to time, we'd love to hear from you.
