bill's gully

Bill's Gully historic hall (est 1913) and reserve is a peaceful and tranquil spot not far along Bill's Gully Rd off the Miram South Rd fifteen minutes from Kaniva. The hall is available for hire for a nominal fee of just $50 for night which includes access to the kitchen. It is a popular spot for private and community functions.

The reserve features pit toilets and fire place and a nice spot for camping, the waterhole is suitable for canoeing when full. Cost of hire for grounds only without hall & kitchen is $20. For bookings contact Michelle Grant, Ph (03) 5392 2221

The hall and reserve takes its name from the bush ranger Mad Dan Morgan, alias Bill the Native or Bill the Spaniard who was known to camp out in the gully. The hall provides a fascinating insight with newspaper clippings of his antics. For more history and insight, download this 1937 souvenir booklet.

This area transforms when there is rain and the gully fills with water.
